Iranian artists come together for song “United for Neda.” Thursday, July 9, Los Angeles, Calif.
When L.A.-based, Persian-British recording artist Mams saw the graphic video footage of 16-year-old Neda Agha-Soltan being shot and killed by Iranian authorities, he was moved to write, produce and perform “United for Neda,” Quickly other Iranian expats who live in L.A. came on board, including Iran’s most iconic singers Dariush, Satar, Morteza, and Shohreh Aghdashloo, the Oscar nominated actress from House of Sand and Fog, in addition to other notable rappers and poets who happen to be a part of the “United for Neda” movement. Major story will appear on the homepage of CNN.com on Wednesday.
“Of course, the Neda thing, seeing that, made me angry, it made me sad, it made me really think, ‘I’ve got to do something about this, I’ve got to do my part,’” Taylor told Marco Werman for PRI’s “The World.” Listen to the whole interview here: http://www.theworld.org/global-hit/united-for-neda
