Orestes Vilató, the world’s greatest living percussionist and one of the most influential figures in Latin music, will perform in New York at the Legends of Salsa 2 Tribute to Ismal Quintana on April 25th at the Lehman Center. Orestes will share the stage with Tony Vega, Lalo Rodriguez, Hector Tricoche, Luis “Perico” Ortiz and Johnny “Dandy” Rodriguez.

Just last month, Orestes Vilato released his first solo album ever “Its About Time” (Rafca Records), album that gathers an all-star cast of some of the most influential

Latin musicians in the US. Produced by Latin music Renaissance woman Rebeca Mauleón, It's About Time reflects not only the mastery of Vilató but is a testament to the joy and purity of Cuban music as well as the scintillating sounds of New York Salsa. Orestes Vilató maintains one foot in the rich tradition of his homeland, and the other in the vast exploration of musical fusion in North America and beyond.

A founding member of the Fania All Stars, friend and collaborator with the great Cachao, Orestes Vilató has contributed to over 400 albums and numerous films heard and seen by millions, and is a familiar presence in sessions featuring some of the greatest musical legends of our time, from Aretha Franklin to Carlos Santana, from Celia Cruz to Rubén Blades, Johnny Pacheco and so many others.
